Frequently Asked Questions
Many communities around the world remain without access to the Internet. This has created a growing digital and social divide and continues to limit communities from educational resources, entrepreneurial opportunities, and connection. Our project works to mitigate this divide by providing sustainable solutions for communities to gain access.
What is E-MAGINE?
E-MAGINE is a multidisciplinary student-run startup from the University of Michigan.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We develop Internet access systems for rural communities and create sustainable environments for them. Through collaboration with public and private sector institutions, community leaders, educators, and students, the E-MAGINE team works to ensure the proper and effective utilization of its Internet systems.
WHY DO WE do this?
As students we believe that access to information or education more broadly is the basis for nearly everything we do. Education opens doors and presents opportunities, but there remains a substantial disparity in the resources available to students. As members of E-MAGINE, we use our diverse academic backgrounds and resources to make connectivity accessible where it is desired. E-MAGINE members build Internet systems as a resource for educational and entrepreneurial development, and work hard to ensure the success, sustainability and utilization of each.
